    Farewell Speech                        1 Chronicles 28:1-21 
    n     The Clarification
    n     David assembled all-Anybody That Was Anybody
    n     David the king stood up upon his feet-Respect For Those Assembled & The Topic
    n     My brethren, and my people-Rank Had Not Swelled His Head
    n     House of rest for the ark-Hearts Desire to Have the Ark in One Place (Ps 132:8)
    n     For the footstool of our God-The Mercy Seat
    n     Been a man of war, and hast shed blood-The Purpose to Which He Was Called (1 Chr 22:8)

    David’s Numbering                           2 Samuel 24:1 to 25 Part Bo    Even to the time appointed-Two Views
    o    Till the Expiration of the Three Days
    o    To the Time of Assembly or the Third Hour
    o    Seventy thousand men-Those Infected With the Plague Died
    o    The Pardon
    o    The angel-The Destroying Angel (1 Chron 21:17)
    o    LORD repented him of the evil (naham)-Sometimes Conditional on Man’s Response
    o    Stay now thine hand-Temporary Withdrawal of Activity
    o    The Threshingplace of Araunah-Floor on Mt. Moriah
    o    I have done wickedly-Turned Aside to Do My Own Will for My Own Glory
    o    These sheep, what have they done?-To David, They Seemed Innocent

    o    Araunah looked, and saw the king and …bowed himself-Not A Jew, But A Convert Living Outside the Walled City

    o    Neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing-A Denial of the Very Meaning of Sacrifice
    o    David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings-Two Sacrifices; One for Sin; the Other For Thanksgiving

    David’s Numbering                           2 Samuel 24:1 to 25 Part A
    o    The Project
    o    Again-After the Events of Famine & More Philistine War
    o    Anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel-No Exact Reason, But Previously For Violation of the Law
    o    He moved David against them-God Incited David
    o    1 Chron 21:1 Names Satan As the Mover
    o    Both Are True.  God Permitted Satan to Tempt David
    o    No Action Can Occur That is Not Subject to God’s Oversight and Divinely Imposed Limitations
    o    Go, number Israel and Judah-Military Men, Not General Census
    o    Numbering Is Not Wrong, But Indicates Purpose (Ex 30:12; Num 26:2)
    o    King said to Joab-Examine the Military Resources of the Kingdom
    o    The Protest
    o    God add unto the people…an hundredfold-Expresses the Wish That the Troops Would Multiply During David’s Lifetime
    o    But why…delight in this thing?-Joab Troubled Over David’s Drifting
    o    The Captains of the host-Both Joab & Council of Chief Officers Rejected
    o    The Particulars
    o    The Territory of the Census
    o    Aroer-Central Command Location to Disperse Troops if Necessary
    o    The Time of the Census
    o    The Numbering Stopped in 9 Months, 20 Days
    o    It Appears, From 1 Chron 27:24, That the Census Was Not Completed
    o    Though Joab Visited Judah, Benjamin Was Not Counted (1 Chron. 21:6)
    o    The Displeasure of God Was Showing Itself Before David Repented (1 Chron 21:7;27:24)

    o    Count Given Was 1,300,000 Men of Military Age

    o    Not fall into the hand of man-Famine & Military Both Have Human Components
    o    For his mercies are great-David Knew From Experience About Numerous Mercies
    o    From the morning-Beginning That Very Morning
